This video, shot and produced by photographer Angeli Wright, accompanied a long-form piece I cowrote with reporter Abigail Margulis for The Citizen-Times of Asheville. It was part of a long running series on race and policing. Ms. Margulis and I conducted the interviews seen on camera and helped edit and assemble the footage. The work was published on the USAToday Network and its affiliate website, the Asheville Citizen- Times. 

"Discovering Emma: A kindergartner's transgender journey" is an award-winning story I wrote about one family's struggle to support their transgender daughter as she entered public school for the first time.

This video, shot by photographer Maddy Jones, headlined the online package. I conducted the interviews seen on camera and helped edit the footage.​ ​​

While interviewing Emma and her family, I produced this supplemental slideshow for our readers. I used the family's photographs to show Emma's journey and her life at home.

I wrote "Lessons from Berlin, one woman's story of the Holocaust for the USAToday Network and the Asheville Citizen-Times.  I used Sharon Fahrer's family collection and media from the United States Holocausts Memorial Museum to create this video slideshow as a supplement to my reporting.
